One of those students, Alex Puskin, ended up working for a newly formed international intelligence agency, and has already been given his first mission. Alex Puskin is trying to put his life back together after being uncerimoniously dumped by his employer, an international espionage agency. One evening a beautiful young former colleague shows up at his door with disturbing news that a former partner and love interest was not dead as Alex believed. More shocking is the news that she had set him up and used him. Alex is shocked at this revelation, but more shocked to learn this former partner has gotten her hands on a very dangerous ancient relic. One that they had searched for together. Election Day
Alex wakes up in a strange place only to discover its 1939. He has no recollection as to how he got there and the last thing he remembers is going to bed in his house in his own time.​

Meanwhile, on the evening of the election as the first returns begin coming in, the president is gathered at her home with family and staff when the residence is obliterated from a small missile. ​

Elsewhere, at her opponent's headquarters he has gathered with his staff to begin celebrating what looks like an upset. As he raises his glass to toast his victory his headquarters are also engulfed in a ball of fire. ​

The Vice President is missing and the presidency falls to the crusty elderly Speaker of the House who faces the undaunting task of uniting the country, reassuring allies and finding the assassins.
